In the parking lot striping industry we are often presented with jobs that require personalization in order to fulfill the needs of the customer. The striping work that we recently completed at a Johnson County school is an example of this type of project. The school originally wanted the parking lot to be restriped as it currently existed. But after some additional thought was given to the specific needs of the school, a new striping plan was developed. The new plan included restriping some current markings, adding some additional markings, and making some configuration and paint color changes.
The New Striping Plan
The first item that we tackled on the new striping plan was the restripe of all the existing white parking spaces and directional arrows in the lot, as well as at the entrances and exits. We also restriped 5 blue basketball keys on the east side of the parking lot.
Next we added a full four lane running track, as well as a half running track. The running tracks were painted a blue color, in order to help distinguish them from the rest of the markings in the parking lot.
A very important change was made to the fire lane markings. Johnson County Fire Code requires all fire lane markings to be white in color. In order to be compliant with local code, the school needed us to change their current fire lane markings from yellow to white.
The school also decided to make a change to the configuration of the bus stalls, with the intention of making the traffic flow more efficient and safe for the students. We painted 20 new yellow bus stalls with individual numbers stenciled in each stall.
As you can see from the pictures, there is now a great deal of markings in the parking lot at this Whiteland school. All of these markings are clearly defined by their color and serve a distinct purpose for the school.
